My journey to Zero Waste lifestyle
My eyes opened in one of the many beaches in Thailand. I had seen there dirt / rubbish / plastic on the beaches, dirty browny water ( I actually used an underwater camera to see around under the water. And on my video was just cloudy browny water. I even couldn’t see myself in the video considering how close my camera was to my body) and this scenario opened my eyes.
WHAT ARE WE DOING TO OUR BEAUTIFUL PLANET & OCEANS?
Back in Bangkok, I suddenly had seen a plastic bags completely everywhere. The amount of plastic bags (from tiny little ones to a big size one) is unbelievable.
And this made me think.
WHAT CAN I DO TO CHANGE IT? HOW CAN I MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
I STARTED FROM MYSELF.
These pictures are from Thailand beaches what I have taken
MY JOURNEY STARTED
USING MY OWN SHOPPING BAGS
USING MY OWN PRODUCE BAGS
I sewed my produce bags from an old fabric and old curtains which my grandma gave them to me. I use them wherever I go shopping for my produce – either farmers market or supermarket.
USING MY OWN WATER BOTTLE & STRAW
I carry my water bottle and glass straw with me. I say “NO” to plastic straw.
AVOIDING SINGLE USE CUPS
by sitting down in the coffee shop instead of take aways. I don’t drink coffee so I usually go for sparkling water which is served in a glass bottle or I would have hot chocolate with soy milk.
BUYING PRODUCTS IN THE GLASS JARS
as much as possible such as mustard, soy sauce, tomato pure etc.
REUSING THESE JARS TO STORE MY FOOD & FOR SHOPPING in BULK SHOP.
SHOPPING IN BULK SHOPS (if not available), I GO FOR THE BIGGEST PACKAGING AVAILABLE.
USING CLOTH HANDKERCHIEF instead of paper handkerchief
LIVING WHOLE FOOD PLANT BASED LIFESTYLE HAS an ENORMOUS POSITIVE IMPACT ON OUR BEAUTIFUL PLANET.

COOKING FROM SCRATCH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
MAKING MY OWN FOOD
Because I have always an oats at home, it is very easy to make oat milk for me. Such a quick recipe and so delicious. And I am saving so much on unnecessary milk box packaging.
So easy to make it and this granola is so so delicious. And I exactly know what I put into my granola so there are not hidden unhealthy ingredients as in commercial bought granolas. And again I am saving so much on unnecessary box packaging.
I like making my own coconut milk because it contains only coconut and it is very easy to make. And I am saving on unnecessary coconut milk can packaging.
Usually these kind of biscuits are expensive and they might contain some unhealthy items in them. So I decided to make my own. They are delicious and very easy to make. And again I am saving so much on unnecessary box packaging.
I love making my own. I found it more delicious and the most important is that it is without added oil
I like to make my own peanut butter because it contains only peanuts
I like making my own because I exactly know what it contains and I can adjust the taste according to my liking.
I like to make my own hummus because I don’t like an oil in my hummus and usually stored bought hummus contain oil.
USING BAMBOO TOOTHBRUSH instead of plastic one
I reuse them as a marker in my garden
I have been using fabric pads since 2017 and they are the best swap what I made.
PLASTIC FREE SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER, SOAPS
USING STAINLESS STEEL SAFETY RAZOR instead of plastic disposable one
USING CLOTH KITCHEN TOWELS instead paper one
USING ALL PURPOSE CLEANER made from 1/2 part of vinegar 1/2 part of water and few drops of essential oil.
This is how I have started to make a change. I will be improving and slowly making a changes in everything I can.
